Meet the Editors

Present Editors
Ruth Kambartel is associate professor at Saitama University
Faculty of Economics. Her teaching and her research include English and German Language Education, Social Studies, and
Philosophy. She is reviewing English and German texts for the editorial committee of The Social Science Review published
by The Economics Society of Saitama University. She has acted as Editor in Chief since the inception of SJLT in 2008.

Brad Semans conducts training, develops curricula and
conducts research for the Saitama City Board of Education. He is interested in the practical application of theory in the classroom and professional development. He has been an assistant editor since 2009.
Past Editors
Leander Hughes is an Assistant Professor at the Saitama
University Center for English Education and Development. He is interested in employing quantitative research methods to
discover better ways to learn and teach languages. Leander acted as an assistant editor from 2008 to 2013.

Masa Tsuneyasu teaches at Utsunomiya University. She 
completed a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics (TESOL emphasis) at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City and is currently a Ph.D. candidate. Her research interest is the relationship between personality and proficiency. Masa  
acted as an assistant editor from 2008 to 2013.
